LOOK, LOOK, LOOK!!!

What do you see?

If any of you out there ever knew my mother you know she was famous for a phrase she used often. ” LOOK, LOOK, LOOK!!!” Whether you were driving in the car, or walking in a park, or on the beach, that is what she would say to you. It often reminded me of my first grade primer, which demanded that we, ‘Look, look, look, see Spot run!’ I think if my mother said look once, it was in idle conversation. If she said the word look twice, it was to make a point or an observation. But when mother said look three times, it demanded attention! Thus every car ride with my mother, from my childhood to adulthood, consisted of:” LOOK, LOOK, LOOK!!!”

She pointed out flora, fauna, fowl, mountain ranges, rivers, and every other point of interest you could see out a car window, train window, or airplane window. Of course this was not confined to modes of transportation, as I stated before we could be walking in the woods, on the beach, or any other place that something of interest may be spotted.

You see my mother didn’t want us to miss out on anything in life that was important. She made it her mission to keep us well-informed. This was not limited to pointing out nature, or interesting things to see, but essential life lessons.

She was adamant about us knowing the Word of God, and what it could mean in our life. She and my father lived their lives by example, with the intention of enabling us to know and understand what the Word of God was and how it could change our lives. Every Sunday would find us sitting in church under the tutelage of a preacher who would preach the Word of God and its truths.

It was during that time, when my brothers and sisters and myself, learned about a loving God who gave His only Son, as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of all mankind. Thus making it possible for each and every one of us, who were redeemed by the blood, to go before the throne of God. This was achieved by the birth of immaculate conception, death on a cruel cross, burial in a borrowed tomb, taking all the sins of the world into hell, and leaving them there. Only to defeat death by rising from the dead, pure and unblemished, and the ascending back to His Heavenly Father, as our Redeemer.

About now you’re wondering why I have brought all this up at this point in time. I have done it just as a reminder that yesterday was the anniversary of the ascension of Jesus back into heaven after His crucifixion. It is often called Ascension Day. This day serves as a reminder of the sacrifice that Jesus made in order for us to receive eternal life. It is also a reminder that the way He left, is the way He will return. The year, day, or minute, no man knows. But be sure of this, those who chose to make Him their personal Saviour and Redeemer, will rise and meet him in the air. Those who don’t will face eternal damnation. Jesus said, “look to Me and live.” He made it so simple for us, “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!”

It doesn’t get any easier than that, look to the Lord and call His name for your salvation.

As parents, we look to the sky to see what the weather will be so we can protect our children against any type of inclement weather. We put on rain parkas, or snow gear. How can we as parents, not look at the sky and wonder if today is the day of His return, and not prepare our children for it? Now is the time of salvation! The hour of His return is unknown to everyone, and you and your children may be running out of time!

We as authors, seem to skirt around so many issues these days. We are so worried about being politically correct, that one by one all our rights are being taken away from us, especially the right to tell the world about Jesus. Use it before you lose it, let the whole world know that His return is imminent. “Prepare ye the way of the Lord!”

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

I John 1:1

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my Word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 5:24

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

Isaiah 45:22

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Hebrews 9:28

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Acts 1:6-9

 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

Matthew 24:42 & 50
