IF OUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED

What will tomorrow bring?

Today is my sister Peggy’s birthday. This will be her sixth birthday in heaven. Peggy died October 10, 2015 after she struggled with cancer for 11 years. She won her battle over death, because Peggy knew where eternity would be spent. Since Peg has passed, my mother, (Beverly Graves), and my brother, (Dexter Graves), have been reunited with Peggy in heaven. I could only imagine the celebration they had on the day each one entered the Golden Gates. Do I mourn these loved ones who have passed?, not at all, do I miss them?, every day!

We got a disturbing phone call last night. A friend of ours passed away from Covid. He got a heart transplant at Thanksgiving, and did very well. They sent him home and he came down with Covid and pneumonia. They sent him back to the hospital and put him on a respirator where he beat the odds and Covid, and was sent back home. I’m not sure of the details but it sounds like he was reinfected with Covid and succumb to it.

What does our friend and my sister Peggy, mother, and brother have in common? They knew their lives were in jeopardy. They had time to make amends for anything in their life that was askew. All of the people listed above had time to prepare for eternity.

It is my belief that on the day you are born, the day you will die is already decided.

Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; Job 14:5

Some people are taken in an instant. Their life is snuffed out like a candle, with no warning, they are gone. Because they are taken so quickly you can only wonder if they had even a second to reconcile their fate with eternity.

There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: Ecclesiastes 8:8a

Right now we live in a society that is living in the grip of fear. Fear of the unknown of what will happen in this political climate, with this unseen virus, and with this unstable economy. Some people are acting out in this fear by preparing for the apocalypse. They are hoarding food, toilet paper, batteries, and other such sundry things. But how many of them are preparing for what comes next? What if the apocalypse never comes before death? What if Covid kills you even after you’ve been vaccinated? What if you get in a traffic accident that takes your life? Can you prepared for catastrophes like that?

As parents we do everything we can to make sure our children live happy healthy lives. What are we doing to make sure that they live a happy healthy afterlife? Some of you will cynically say: “I don’t believe in any of that superstitious stuff.” Well, if you’re right and I’m wrong I have lived a life I can be proud of, and I am not out a single thing. But if I am right about the afterlife, and you are wrong, you and your children have everything to lose for all eternity. Think of your children, and their future, and eternity.

We, as authors, should not buy into the media hype about everything that comes down the pike! Let common sense rule our day-to-day lives, and our Supreme Being that made us rule our eternity. We can be part of the problem, or we can be part of the solution of the mayhem taking over our country. Which one will you be?

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Psalms 90:12

Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; Job 14:5

There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: Ecclesiastes 8:8a

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 9:27-28
