THE OLD OAKEN BUCKET

I have an old oaken bucket, just like the one our ancestor’s used in the early days.

I keep mine in the house and use it for a door stop in my bathroom. These buckets were designed for one thing… to carry water. Because they were used every day, they seldom leaked.
My bucket, as it is today, would not hold water, it would actually leak like a sieve. Why? Because I haven’t filled it in quite a while. It has shrunken, dried, and lost its usefulness.
Can it ever be used for water again? Yes, but only when it is filled often, and used with proper care.
We are much like this old oaken bucket. Left empty, we dry up, shrink and are pretty much useless, compared to what we were made for.
If we start every day in the Scriptures, we will be filled with God’s goodness and love.
If we as writers, do not write every day, we begin to dry out, shrink and loose our calling.
So, fill yourself up every day !!!
