Have you ever noticed how a sun flower always faces the Sun?
It basks in the rays of the sun, from morning until night. Always turning its head to follow the progression of the sun’s rising and setting. Who told this particular flower to do that? Other flowers don’t turn their heads on a daily basis. All plants and trees need the sun to flourish and to grow, but not in such an obvious way. They have no brain, or nervous system like ours, so what makes them turn? How do they know to turn back in preparation for the next day? The results, these flowers grow to heights of up to and over 15 feet. It is amazing when you focus on the sun what the potential can be.
I like to think, that we as people should also follow the Son. From the time we get up, greet the morning Son, until we take our rest at night, saying goodnight to the Son. If we practiced this every day, would there be shootings, looting, rioting? Murder, rape, incest, child abuse?
Those things will be with us always, but maybe not on such a grand scale. To learn to love each other as Christ loves us. What an iconic idea. Yet, I can’t help but remember that is how most of us were raised. So, who dropped the ball? Not our parents who drug us to school, drug us to church and drug us to scouts.
Like it or not, we are the matriarchs of this generation. Are we taking our jobs seriously? Do we drag our children to church and scouts (where they are taught to serve others) or do other things take precedence? Do we live by example?
Writers are not just people who have been published. They are every person who keeps a journal, a diary or a list of daily blessings. How many volumes will we fill in our lifetime? Who do you want to read them? Shouldn’t we make them count?II
