How many times as children, did we say that to our parents?It is time for bed, but the TV show has us spell bound. The last thing we want to do is comply with the commands of our parents and go to bed. Or, maybe it is time to walk the dog, and we are at the best part of the book. Not caring if the dog is uncomfortable, we just think of ourselves in that moment. ‘Just one more minute?’ is our plea.
It doesn’t really matter what the application of the request is, the mantra is the same, just one more minute, for ourselves.
I have always told my children and my grandchildren, that obedience is immediate! If it is not immediate, it is not obedience.
That is awfully harsh, you may think. But, what if the obedience of your child was a matter of life and death? Because your child never learned to obey, you told them to stop, they continued walking into the path of a car, poisonous spider or venomous snake? Stop means stop! NO means NO! Now means Now! Not, one more minute, second or nanosecond. Teach your children to obey, their lives could depend on it!
Our eternal lives certainly depend on it. The Bible says today is the day of salvation. Will you take a chance on one more minute?
We as writers can be procrastinators. We think, ‘oh, I’ll write about that idea tomorrow’. What if tomorrow never comes? Seize the day!
