Do you have a busy hectic life?

I wonder sometimes how I will ever catch up. It is like two steps forward and one step back. I know that when all my kids were home it was like a dance trying to get to all the activities on our schedule. The trick was not to get out of step.

I have now been in the hospital seven days and nights with my mom. Guess what? The world didn’t stop and fall apart because my routine has been interrupted. The sun didn’t fall from the sky and last time I looked, the stars are still where God hung them. I will have to play catch up when I make it home. But the up side is, I have been able to unplug . To take stock in what is really important.
Instead of being anxious because I am getting behind, I found a certain peace and serenity in the unhurried quiet. I have often used the phrase , ‘let go and let God,’ but it is a whole different story when you actually have to do it. Trust me, if you do, you will have the peace that passes all understanding. Realizing all my fretting and worrying will not change the plan that God has for my mother, makes letting go easier., and the peace is indescribable.

As parents we need to teach our children to unplug. Stop the schedule, turn off the electronics and tvs. Have them read or listen to soothing music, like classical. Let them experience quiet time, peace and  serenity that only God can give.

We as writers sometimes we need to unplug and reset. We need to take a quiet walk, or sit quietly with a cup of coffee and watch a sunset. We need to experience a little  peace and serenity.

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
