BACK OF THE CLOUDS

Have you ever seen a ray of sunshine streak across the sky on a cloudy day?

What a beautiful sight.  Our lives are like that at times.  Just when we think all hope is gone, a ray of hope comes shining through the darkness. It puts me in mind of a song, “Back of the Clouds the Sun Is Always Shining.”

No matter what problems we have or troubles we encounter, we have the knowledge that God will never give us more that we can stand.  This is a promise he makes in the Bible. He also promises to never leave us.  So, do we take advantage of that promise? Do we talk to him daily, in prayer or in simple conversation? Why would anyone choose to go it alone, when the Comforter is there to help? Remember he is the Son who is always shining!

As parents we need to teach our children to talk to Jesus daily.  Teach them what my mother knew, “What a friend we have in Jesus.” After our children go through a tough time with something, ask them if they ask Jesus for help. Ask them what they learned because of their adversity. Impress on them God will never leave them.

We as writers we often turn stormy turbulent times into times of joy, when the hero comes to save the day. Be careful who you make that hero.

 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.  He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.  Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
