NEVER ALONE

My mother is very important to her children.

Those of you reading this blog for the first time do not know that on June 23rd my mother had a stroke. She is 98 years old. While the stroke may have been mild, it is difficult at 98 to bounce back. Pneumonia has set in making recovery harder. Since my mother’s hospitalization she has never been left alone. If my brother goes to eat I stay with her. To give me a break from staying every night with her my sister came to relieve me. In short my mother has not been left alone with the exception of X-rays of sonograms. In her effort to heal she sleeps a lot of the time. We made a promise that we would be right here. Some may say what’s the difference if she doesn’t know you’re there? We know it!
God made us a promise that he would never leave us or forsake us. Even when we don’t want him to see what we are doing, he is there. He made us a promise. He always keeps his promise.

We as parents need to teach our children that they will never be alone if they know Christ. Many places in the Bible we are told he is always with us.  Teach your children to commune with God through prayer or just in conversation. Let them feel his presence in their lives.

We as writers know there is always dire circumstances when a promise is broken in our stories. Does it leave someone all alone?

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
