HARVEST TIME

Are you prepared for the harvest?

Sitting on my balcony this morning, I was watching a huge spider repairing her web. It was imperative, for her livelihood, for the web to be perfect in order to perform its best. Thus providing her food for the coming winter.

My daughters have been canning for months!  Every time something else ripens in the garden, it goes into a jar or freezer bag.  The turkeys are nearly ready to go also.  It is hot, consuming, tiring, relentless work, but it has to be done while the time is right.  If you start too soon the produce is unripe, wait too long and you have passed the harvest time and it is worthless.

When you go to work you pass a field of corn, but when you come home it is all gone, it is because the farmer has begun his harvest.  Harvest is a very time sensitive thing.  It can only be done when the fields are ripe.

There is another type of harvest found in the Bible: Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Have you noticed how things seem to be getting worse every day? No respect for the authority of heaven or earth.  Sin is so rampant it seems to be the norm.  We are becoming desensitized and are turning a blind eye to the evil things that go on around us. Things are getting ripe, and soon it will be the time of harvest.  We must prepare for that coming time.  How you ask?  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Mark 15:15-16)

As I said, harvest is a time sensitive thing, if you are not ready, it will be too late!

As parents it is up to us to teach our children about the coming harvest of souls. Only those who have prepared will be saved.  Are you preparing them with the knowledge they need? Who are you entrusting your child’s or grandchildren’s eternal life to?

We as writers know when the plot thickens it is ready for the climax and time to reel in the reader.  It is a time sensitive thing, just like life.  Many opportunities are lost because the timing is wrong.

There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.

Proverbs 30:24-28

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

Proverbs 6:6-8
He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Proverbs 10:4-5
