I have a grand piano sitting in my house.
I love that piano, which was my grandmother’s and on which my mother played. It is also the piano my children took lessons on. I love that piano! But over the years it stopped being played, and became out of tune. Not only is it out of tune, it will hardly hold a tune! Now my beloved piano is just a piece of furniture that holds pictures. It is worthless when it comes to being used for which it was designed, music. It is a very grand piece of furniture and takes up a lot of room, but I love it so I tend to hold on to it. Clinging to the memories of the beautiful music it was made for, but I should discard the piano.
This is the way we appear to Christ. A useless piece of furniture taking up room, not doing what we were designed for, praise and worship. Oh, we say we love the Lord, and that we are Christians, but when was the last time you shared your faith with another? On Sunday, is Church a place you go if nothing else is going on? Or, do you make plans for after being faithful to the Lord? Let’s get this part clear, salvation is a gift, it is free. You cannot work for it, earn it, or anything else except receive it as it is given, a free gift, no strings attached. But, showing gratitude for that gift should be paramount for the rest of your life. Pass out tracts, tell you friends how blessed you are, tell people on the plane or bus about Jesus. Otherwise, you are just a large piece of worthless furniture, taking up space, with no purpose! Think about it~
As parents we need to teach our children never to ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Teach them to: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: and, we love him because he first loved us!
We as writers seldom put large sections in our works that have no purpose, our life should reflect that and make every day count for something!
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my[b]works.
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
James 2:18-20, 26
