TO KNEEL OR NOT TO KNEEL?

Are you one of the crowd?

There has been a lot of attention in the media lately about the disrespect of the American flag and the National Anthem. After watching an interview of an NFL player, I was unsure what they were protesting.  He said they just wanted to show the unity of the players, not to the cause some seem to have. Now you have to ask, what is their cause?  Inequality in America, they say.  This coming from people who make an average of 2.1 million dollars per season. Each team plays 16 games in a 17 week season.  The average household in America, for a 52 week season gets paid $55,775.00.  Now do we want to talk about the other sports?  Let’s not! I am only trying to make a point, that life in America is full of possibilities.  It is those amazing possibilities that allows a few select people to be paid exorbitant amounts of money to bounce, kick and hit balls for a living.  This should not be their platform for any political sentiments, it is not what they are paid to do.  In their off time, let them do their protesting how life is so unfair.  And shame on the media for giving them all this time, when as soon as the hurricanes passed, the cameras moved on to the next hot topic, not reporting on the people and their struggles to recover from the devastation.

Here is a novel idea, how about you turn off your television, and go throw a football with your child, grandchild, or neighbor’s child.  Instead of spending all that money going to a game, spend it funding a little league, hockey, soccer, or Pop Warner team.

It is not what you do when the people are watching, it is what you do when they are not!  I was always taught, either you are part of the problem, or you are part of the solution.  Which are you?

As parents we cannot sit on the couch and say one thing and do another.  Teach your child the only one to bow a knee to is God.  To stand proud for the flag and country that allows them religious freedom so they can worship.  Instead of sitting on the couch on Sunday scratching and staring at the TV, take your family out for a walk and see the beautiful things around you to be thankful for.

We as writers can easily be taken off our plot line if we get caught up in a wave of excitement.  We have to be diligent and do our research so the tide of emotions doesn’t taint the truth we are trying to bring out.

O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.

The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.

For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,

Psalm 95:1-7
