Is life a game to you?
Have you ever wondered how many of us are going to get off this planet alive? In case you need a hint, NO ONE! That’s right, unless the Lord returns and there is a gathering of souls, we are here till the end. So how do you approach life? Are you just getting by? In for a penny, in for a pound? What is your goal? Are you trying to gather all the riches you can so people will think you were something special? What do you do for others? Some people work all the time so their family can have all they want. But what about what they need. They need a family relationship, with God first, then their mother, father, sister and brother.
I was encouraged to see during the Harvey hurricane and after, how people came together with one purpose in mind, to help. No ethnic background or religion was in play, just the human race helping one another survive. The true nature and spirit of people comes out in situations like this. Now hurricane Irma is heading for the Gulf and points unknown. People were asked to evacuate, but some won’t, and if they live through the storm, will need to be rescued, and once again there will be those good-hearted people, risking life and limb to help.
It is very much like real life. We are warned about the places to avoid, and to stay out of the paths of evil storms for our safety, but we don’t listen. Then we call out to be saved, and the pieces of our lives picked up and put back together again. And like always, Jesus hears our pleas and comes to our rescue. I for one am very glad he doesn’t get tired, of how we take this precious thing he has given us, called life, and treat it as if it were a game. Never listening, never learning, just going on in our own selfish ways until, trials or tragedy hits. Then we remember his warning and promise once again if he helps us we will never do it again. What kind of game are we playing with our lives, and what are we willing to lose?
As parents we need to teach our children to savor and be thankful for each and every moment of our lives. To love and respect their elders, father, mother, sister and brother. Life is short, teach them to be kind and loving, just as Jesus commanded.
We as writers can take a heartless narcissist and through an epiphany, get them to re-evaluate their lives and make changes for the better. Maybe we should take a lesson out of our own pages.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
James 4:14
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
James 4:4
Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Psalms 27:11-14
