HOLD ON I’M COMING!

Do you sometimes feel like you are loosing your grip?

When my children were toddlers, they held on to our fingers for dear life. They were new to the walking game and falling was an unwanted risk. But as they became a little more steady on their feet, they would want to run ahead and cover as much ground as possible. We would often tell them to hold on or they would stumble, but independence was rearing its prideful head and they would refuse. This often ended with skinned knees, elbows and an occasional bump on the head.

But there were other times when danger was a real threat, and we wouldn’t take no for an answer. Like crossing the street, or in a crowded store, we held on to them like a lifeline. As they grew up the occasions for holding hands became fewer and farther between. In joy, or sorrow, I would find a warm hand snaking its way into mine, giving me happiness and strength.

There have been a few times when my kids have called me for help,(although these times have been scarce,) and I am thrilled to tell them that I will be right there, not to worry and hang on! There have also been times when I have received calls and I cannot help, I just sit and cry with them, and maybe get to hold their hand again.

But we have someone on whom we can always rely on to come to our aid and rescue, our heavenly father. There is nothing impossible for him, for those who love him and are his children. He is our ABBA father, or our daddy.  He will comfort us and help us through all of life’s trials and tragedies. And all you have to do is, ‘call upon the name of the Lord and thou shall be saved!’ So call, and HOLD ON!, because He is coming!

As parents we try everything we can to keep our children from getting hurt. But no matter how careful we are, the hurts in life are inevitable. So the best thing we can do for them is prepare them for life and providing them with a lifeline will never fail them, Jesus Christ. Teach them to stay in the Word, where help can always be found.

We as writers love to have drama in our stories, and having our hero rush in to save the day. But the real world doesn’t work that way, and a real lifeline is necessary to save us!

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Isaiah 41:10
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
