Do you have a woman in your life?

My mother and I didn’t always see eye to eye. I was the middle of seven children and therefore always striving to be noticed in the mass. That effort often took the wrong path of behavior. But it got me the attention I craved. Much can be said of society today. People, like the stars of the NFL, just want attention, their cause is secondary. Their methods are a poor choice.
Over time I have learned many valuable lessons at my mother’s knee. How to alter my behavior to get the proper attention for the right reasons. How to be a role model, a mother, and a grandmother. But most of all how to be a woman of great faith.
Today with the marvels of modern media, women have knowledge at their fingertips, but that does not replace the loving touch of a mother. It is said every great man has a strong woman in his life, either a mother or a wife, and the lucky ones have both. God saw it was not good for man to be alone, and so he made woman; soft and vulnerable on the outside, but strong as steel on the inside.
Helen Reddy, Loretta Lynn, and other folk singers have defined women and their inner strength, and others have talked about their mother’s strength. What made these songs popular was women can identify with the lyrics.
Even back in the Bible times the running of the household and the raising of the children was the honour and duty of the woman. Don’t be in such a hurry to raise your children and get them out of the house. This, (though it may not seem like it now), are the best days of your life. Be very careful of the role model you are to those around you. If your daughter-in-law is a harpy, remember, they say a man marries someone like their mother. So raise up you children, support your husband, be the best teacher anyone has ever seen. Because you are a WOMAN!

As parents we need to teach our children that they are a blessing to us. We are lucky to have them in our lives. Teach them to be rich in faith, and to do that you must be the example! Let them see you be strong in the Word and in prayer and enjoy the time God has given you with them.

We as writers often make our heros single women who find love and all the world come in line and turns our perfect. Maybe let’s write about how a married woman keeps everything right when the odds are against her. I think it is probably more realistic.
