Have you watched the evening news lately?
I seldom watch the evening news. I learned some time ago all it does is make me angry, and bitter. It could be because they never have anything good to say. They find the very worst of the worst to report on. I am in Washington, giving a hand to my aunt who is under the weather. They watch the news every night. They were called away from the television, so I started to fan the channels. At the very same moment on every channel, the same news article was being discussed. To verify this phenomenon I waited and fanned the channels again and sure enough all the broadcast were synced to the same stories at the same time. How can they call this independent news? Who is synchronizing these broadcast? Are all their strings being pulled by the same people. How do we know what is true and what they want us to believe is true. Whom do we believe? Are things as bad as they seem, does the hate that they spew nightly from their chairs of ‘reporting the news’ exist or are they fanning some long dead coals, trying to inflame them? Whom do we believe?
I know whom I have believed, and he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him. I don’t have to worry what is true, and what isn’t, because he doesn’t change from day-to-day. He doesn’t change his mind or change sides. He (Jesus Christ) is the same yesterday, today and forever! And his Word should never be compromised by new and simpler text. The Holy Spirit will always guide you through the passages of the Bible if you pray for his guidance. What a relief to know that the truth is still out there, to guide us through this dark, complicated world. Don’t be sold on this daily dose of hate the world is trying to sell you. Just watching people during Harvey and Irma shows you how good people really are. Watch the young people at the high school football game who sang the national anthem when the school wouldn’t play it. Pass on the Love of Christ, that is alive and well and living in America!
As parents it is important that we know what is going on with our children at school. If their moral compass is being altered even slightly. Be an influential part of their lives by teaching right from wrong, not what is popular today. Help them study the Word so they can navigate through all the negativity that is thrown at them every day!
We as writers have been known to use our own filters to write history the way we want it to play out. That is all well and good as long as the book binding is labeled FICTION!
