YOU CANNOT SERVE TWO MASTERS

The age old battle of good and evil still rages on!

Have you ever been on a diet? You know it is impossible for you to loose weight if you work out but eat everything in sight. You can’t say I am going to turn over a new leaf on New Years Day, and sneak where no one can see you to have your cigarette or beer. The laws of physics (actually it is of intuition) are clear, two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time. So, either you are trying to loose weight, or you are not. You are either going to quit smoking, and drinking, or you are not. The same can be said of good and evil. You say you are a good upstanding person, yet you hide in your secret place and watch dirty movies, or pornography. You say you are an honest person, yet you cheat on your taxes. I think you can see where I am going here. The same is true when you say you love your spouse, but your eyes and actions tell another story. “Just because I am married doesn’t mean I am dead.” Is one of the poorest excuses for infidelity I have ever heard. The Bible says: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. So much for your excuse.

Good and evil battle every day in this world. The devil never goes after the bad, he already has them. He is coming after the good and the innocent. After your children through games you think may be harmless, or movies, and even their clothing. He will turn good into bad when ever he is given the opportunity. What do you do to keep this from happening. Be on your guard. Guard your children. Keep an open honest conversation with your mate (or friend) about the trials and temptations you are facing. Remember, there is strength in numbers! Say what you mean, and mean what you say!

As parents we must be tireless in protecting our children against the devil and his lies. The Bible tells us to: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: He is subtle, sneaky and patient, but he will try to win over you and your children. Arm yourself with the knowledge of the Word. It is sharper than any two edged sword!

We as writers like to make our charters a little bit naughty, to add to their mystery. I hope I am never used to plant a seed of discontentment, with good, solid, upstanding people, in the guise of boredom, in my stories. It is a fine line we walk, so let us be careful we do not fall into that temptation.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:24 Luke 16:13

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Psalms 45:7

Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
1 Corinthians 10:21

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Deuteronomy 6:5

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14
