A WILLING SACRIFICE FOR FAMILY

I am doing this for my children.

I never thought I would willingly go out into the woods, and get shot at! Today we are celebrating one of my grandchildren’s birthday. It was his desire to go paintballing. The whole family is going to help him celebrate turning 13 years old. (I can remember being 13, I think that is one of the hardest ages to get through. Your mind and body are at war with one another and you feel awkward about everything.)  So we are going to a paint ball field where I know my children will be happy to use today as therapy, for any and all childhood grudges that may be deeply engrained in their minds.  I guess I should just paint a large target on my back before entering the shooting field.  Seriously though, it is a day we can all do something together, and be active, not sitting in front of a TV or movie screen.  I understand it hurts when you get shot, so there may be many tears, none of mine, if I can remember how to shoot.  I will take no prisoners.

All this to say, take time to inter act with your family during this long holiday weekend.  Play some board games, sing some songs, play charades or Pictionary. Interact, tell stories, make Christmas Decorations, or go out as a family and get a tree and decorate it together.  Be, and act as a family! It is the most precious gift anyone can have, and it is short lived. Don’t waste a single moment!

Think of me as I go onto the battle field today, with my false hope of coming out of this experience unscathed. But also think of the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for all his children, by actually laying down his life to die for you and for me.  For our remission of sin, that we may escape unscathed, from eternal damnation cause by the sin of Satan. This sin must still be paid for, but Jesus paid the ultimate price. He went willingly knowing he would die. All you have to do is say thank you, and believe he died for your sins, and your debt is covered by his blood! Talk about coming out victorious!

As parents we need to teach our children, that they are responsible for their actions. Everything they say and do has a consequence, which must be accounted for by someone.  Instruct them in the Word, and train them up in the way they should go, so when they are old they will not depart from it. Life is a battlefield, prepare them for it!

We as writers need to use our powers for good, and strengthen the need for family unity.  Yes, many of our families today are dysfunctional, but we need to spread the knowledge that we need to remain attached to, and loving, what we call our families. Let’s begin a new campaign to reinstate the family unit, as a priority in society today.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
