EVER WONDER WHY?

The bad guys in real life win?

I can’t watch the news anymore.  It just irks me to hear the same thing every night, and watch the sensationalism the broadcaster use to sell their stations ratings. Balderdash! Lies and innuendoes! I watch in amazement while the people who have low or no morals profit and excel, and good people are attacked on a daily basis.  You can go into every major city and see homeless by the thousands, many of whom are veterans. Each and every person has a story, and yes, some are substance abuse problems, but you would be surprised how many are not. Then you see the sleaze bags in Hollywood who live in mansions, and are just a step above an animal. The new band wagon is sexual abuse of over 30 years ago.  But if any one of these people would have come forward and stood their ground, their careers may have suffered, but how many other women wouldn’t have been assaulted? Did they sell their souls for their career, allowing this nasty man to get away with the crimes which they now lay at his feet?

Is it frustrating for you to do right, when you barely have two nickels to rub together after the bills are paid and groceries are bought? Do you find yourself asking, why? Why is life such a struggle when you don’t cheat on your taxes and you are kind to other people? Well that is tough question but I think David had the same questions for God. He was anointed king, but had to run and hide in caves so Saul wouldn’t kill him.  The 37th Psalm really answers all the above question, in 40 verses.  It also tells us how David, and we can deal with the injustices of this world.

First: David submitted to God; which means putting off irritation, envy, and anger.  These are the things that fuel our unhappiness.

Second: Be content in the Lord; putting on trust, obedience, patience, humility and meekness. These are the things that fuel our happiness.

Third: Trust that the Lord will judge the righteous; what those people have here on earth is all they will ever have, we are promised eternal happiness.

Fourth: Trust God to provide; remember you still have two nickels after all the obligations are met!

Fifth: Do right; when the judgement comes, let it be said you didn’t submit to the temptation of getting things the wrong way.

Look around you, are you loved? Do you love others? You are rich beyond measure! Always thank God, and trust God to keep you, and be patient, because your patience will be rewarded.

As parents we are under constant assault by the devil, often times through our children.  They see things on television, that look so wonderful they just have to have them, and we find ourselves thinking about putting things on our credit cards we cannot afford.  Take time to set boundaries, and make traditions that are realistic and practical. Teach them the meaning of the Season of Christmas is giving, help them apply this lesson in their lives by donating to the less fortunate. They will feel good about themselves and have more respect about what Christmas is really about.

We as writers should sometimes be politically incorrect, and call wrong, wrong and right, right and not worry about how popular it will make us.  Remember, we have to live with what we write. Let us look back and be proud of what we stood for, no matter how it sells.

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

Psalms 37:1-8
