Do you have a pass for the tolls?

My husband recently took me on a romantic trip to celebrate my birthday.  We went to a very old town in Illinois, and stayed in an old Victorian home.  He knows I love all things Victorian, and the history that goes along with it.  It was a weekend to remember, and we have pictures also, in case our memories fade.

Yesterday I got a letter from the Illinois Toll Road saying I didn’t pay the toll and they levied a hefty penalty to the bill.  I was shocked! How did this happen? The little blue light came on each time we went through the toll booth, why are they sending us this bill?

Well, we were hacked sometime back and had to get a new credit card, but we failed to pass that information on to the EZ Pass people.  So, when they were asked to pay the toll on our behalf, there were no funds in that account.  They couldn’t pay the toll, so the judgement came to us. We thought we had it made in the shade sailing through all those toll booths without a care in the world.  Until judgement time, and we didn’t have the funds arranged to be paid, so the penalty was ours.  Even though we had a mediator, we hadn’t given them permission to pay the price for us.

Life is the same as the toll road.  You can sail through all the booths, but sooner or later you will be required to pay the toll for your life.  If you don’t have the funds, you can’t go on the highway to heaven, and the penalties are eternal damnation. There is someone who is a mediator, who will gladly pay the price, if you give him permission.  You must choose to let him pay the price for you, and the best part is, it won’t cost you anything.  That’s right, he paid it all, and not just for you but for everyone.  But he has to have your request to let him pay.  Now, who would not take advantage of that deal! For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

 As parents we want to take all the things in this world away from our children that would hurt them. Unfortunately they too will have to pay the final toll. It is up to you to get them acquainted with the one who already paid the price in full! The failure to do this will be laid at your door. Read them the Word daily!

We as writers pay a toll in writing of sweat equity, editors, agents etc… I would love to have someone pay all those tolls extracted from me, how about you?
