HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO COUNT THE STARS?

Did you lose your place?

As a kid, we would get blankets and lay on the roof of my dad’s studio and look at the stars. Some nights many could be seen, other nights millions could be seen. And if you were really lucky, you would see a shooting star!  We would try to recognize the constellations, some were vague, others like Orion, and the Big Dipper, were easier to spot.  Did you know there were 88 constellations in the sky? How do they stay in place? There is no gravity in space so why don’t they just jumble all around?  I am sure there is some quantum physic law that would try to explain how the stars and planets all stay in place and have since the beginning of time. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is in control.

I think our hair is like the night sky and each one of our hairs is like a star, when one falls out it is like a shooting star.  Some of us may be experiencing meteor showers lately.  Did you know the average person has between 100,000 to 150,000 hairs on their heads?  God knows the running number of each hair on each one of us, just as he knows the exact number of stars, (estimated number is 100 billion), and has given each one a name.

As we are enjoying this Thanksgiving Celebration Season, I am truly thankful I have a heavenly father who not only know my name, but the number of hair I do or do not have on my head. He is my Councilor, Prince of Peace, Mender of Broken Hearts, Bread of Life, Living Water, High Tower, King of Kings, Lamb of God, Saviour, and I can go on and on.  That is a lot to be thankful for!  If the holidays are hard for you, for whatever reason, take it to the Lord in prayer.  Don’t be alone, if you don’t have a family, go to church, and enjoy your church family.  Donate your time at a soup kitchen, or homeless shelter, moving the focus from yourself and your loneliness to helping others.  Let your friends know how you feel, don’t think you will be a burden on anyone who extends an invitation, just accept it and be grateful. Remember, God knows you, your heart and every hair on your head, and loves you beyond your comprehension! Be Thankful!!!

As parents we need to teach our children the loving kindness of their Heavenly Father.  How he knows everything about them, and hurts when they hurt, and gave his life for them.  Read the Bible with your children.  Be thankful for the opportunity and the freedom to do so.

We as writers sometimes have a hard time expressing the unfathomableness of the miracles and unexplainable things here on earth in our writings.  It takes faith and the willingness to think beyond the realm of the natural, to God’s supernatural control of everything.  Pretty awesome, isn’t it!

He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

Psalm 147:4

Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.

Nehemiah 9:6

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Luke 12:6-7
