SECURITY

Do you have a security item?

My grandson has a favorite blanket and a horse blankie that are required for him to go to sleep. My three-year old granddaughter has a once pink afghan she drags around and of course to bed also. These are familiar items, no matter what changes around them, their security is having these things near them. Life can be a scary place for little people, and any item they can use to give comfort makes it worth their weight in gold. Mommy and Daddy can’t hold them or carry them all the time, and making them feel secure with a simple toy or blanket is reassuring for them.
How about you? What do you use as a security item? A security light outside your home? The panic button on your keys? How about a lucky rabbits foot? (Which I might add was not very lucky for the rabbit!) Maybe a nightlight in the kitchen or hallway? Some people even feel safer having a weapon close at hand. But what happens if the light goes out, or you run out of bullets? What if you lose you keys, pepper spray, or rabbit’s foot? Where do find security then?
I have a different type of security. I am a child of the KING. All I had to do is accept Jesus Christ as my redemption for sin. Now I have the love and protection of a heavenly father, who promises never to leave me, or forsake me. He will also help me through anything I must experience in this life. It is the best security in this world and the next!
As parents we need to teach our children about the promises of God that are found in the Bible. It is the best security system that money can’t buy. It is a free gift from a loving father, to any and all who ask.
We as writers enjoy having our characters foil the best security systems anyone can come up with. It is a gauntlet thrown down for anyone to pick up and try their skills. Thank goodness my security system is fool-proof!

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.
My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father’s hand.
John 10:27-29

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:24
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
