THE SEASONS OF YOUR LIFE

What season of life are you in?

Have you ever heard the BYRDS sing the Peter Seeger’s song “TURN, TURN, TURN?”

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late

To everything there is a season, or a time that things may or may not happen.  For some people it may be a time to have children, some may remain childless. A time of plenty, a time for leanness. A time for good health, a time of struggles with your health. The Bible tells us that in all times be thankful. “It is hard to be thankful when you are going through bad times,” you might say.  Are you only looking at the bad in your life? Do you have no one around you to love or to love you? So you have a roof over your head, and food in your cupboards. Are you still breathing?

You may be in the spring of your life, with a world of possibilities in front of you. Or you may be in the summer, where things have settled down into a comfortable routine. Many of us go through the winter of our lives a little prematurely, where everything seems desolate, and bleak, without hope, but trust me, things usually are never as bad as they seem, and the phrase “This too shall pass,” will apply. I am what some would call the autumn of my life.  I am in the grandmother stage, having raised all my children into adults. I am enjoying life, even though struggles are still present in my life. But this doesn’t mean I won’t try new things, set new goals, and make this the best time of my life.  “Whether I eat, drink or whatsoever I do, I want to do it to the glory of God!” Make every season of your life the very best season of your life.  We are only guaranteed today, not tomorrow. So whatever season in life you find yourself, be thankful, and make it the BEST season of your life!

As parents we need to teach our children that there is a season for everything. This will help them cope better when someone they love passes away.  Why things in their life change, like moving, leaving all their friends and familiar things behind.  Keep them in the Word, and teach them in all things be thankful!

We as writers usually make young strong virile people the heroes of our stories.  There is a lot to be said for the wise, strong, and fit, middle-aged people, don’t count us out. We still have a lot to offer to the world in the season in which we find ourselves!

To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luke 21:25-27

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Acts 1:7

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Genesis 8:22

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

2 Timothy 4:2-4

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Genesis 1:14

Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.

Jeremiah 8:7
