VETERAN’S DAY

Are they still given what they need for battle?

This country tries to honor the mighty men of valor every year. To let them know how much we appreciate them putting themselves in harm’s way, to protect the freedoms we enjoy. These men and women have promised to protect our freedoms, flag and nation, with their lives. They may sometimes question the orders they receive, but because they have honor and have made a commitment, lay down their lives for us, and for US. When you see a person of the military, do you just look? Or do you say thank you for your service? Do you buy their meal, or a coffee? Do you pray for them daily?  How do you say thank you?  By kneeling during the National Anthem?  By spitting on, stomping on, or burning the flag they fought for, giving you the right to do all three? (To your shame). Through political correctness the lines have become blurred in this country, as to whom, and where and for what veterans should be honored.  But in my mind it is very clear, and in any war, police action, or civil unrest, the men and women who commit to saving this country and its freedoms are heroes and deserve to be honored.

When this country wasn’t afraid to cross the political lines of correctness every solider was offered a New Testament to carry in their pocket, knowing within those pages would be comfort and wisdom.  Now, we send them out with part of their armor missing, hopping they never need it. We still have the New Testament my father-in-law carried in the II World War, and would like to think, that in its dog-eared pages, that on many occasions, he found comfort.

Thank you, all you mighty men and women of valor, who have, and do, protect us and this country, every day, with your spirit and your lives. And pray this country will honor you today and every day, by standing tall, and saluting you and this country’s flag!

As parents it is important to teach our children about the men and women who fight for the freedoms of this country. The initial and major freedom, is the right to worship God freely.  Teach them what a precious freedom and gift this is, and teach them to respect the reason they have them.

We as writers can do great things for these men and women in our writings.  The freedom of speech being one of the freedoms they protect.  Let’s do more than give them lip service.

Blessed [be] the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, [and] my fingers to fight:

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
