Are the odds in your favor?
You have heard the old adage; when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Well in my opinion it need to continue with a business plan, on how you can package and sell the lemonade for a nice tidy profit! This time of year we are under a lot of stress trying to get just the right thing for just the right person. Our stress is then added to by planning and preparing a large celebratory meal. Hoping everything will turn out just right, making all things merry and bright. But after the holidays life goes on, all people are faced with the reality of life. For some it will be the overspending they did over the holidays, others it will be work related, but for some, it will be health issues. Things they put off until the New Year so their Christmas could be happy and care free, surrounded by people they love.
Now reality is setting in, and re-evaluating the place we work, the relationship we are in, and how to proceed with the treatment of our health concerns. The world tells us that you cannot get promoted at work because you don’t have a degree. It will tell us you will never pay off your debts, so just file bankruptcy. You will never beat the illness you have so just make your peace. I say Bah Humbug! When the odds are against you, be an EVEN! If they say you shouldn’t, you say I should. If they say you can’t, say oh, yes I can! If they say you won’t, say watch me! Even if they knock you down, get up! Even if they crush your dreams, dream on! Even if they give you six months to live, live six years! Don’t surround yourself with negative people. If your job is killing your spirit, keep sending out resumes until you can change jobs, and whittle away at those bills, and fight until they find a cure; walk with you head held high, look every person in the eye you pass, and dare them to tell you the odds are against you, and be ready to tell them, “I am not an odd, I am an EVEN!”
As parents we need to teach our children not to be held to the boundaries the world sets for them. Teach them the promises of God; I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. When the odds are against us remember; For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
We as writers have the power to overcome nearly everything in our writings. We make our characters fight the odds and come out victorious. We need to keep things as close to reality as possible, so through our writings we can show it is possible to beat the odds, and become an EVEN!
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
