IF YOU LOVE ME

Santa Baby hurry down the Chimney!

Somehow in our society we measure love by the things people get us. The bigger the diamond, the more love.  The flashier the car, the more love. Furs, jewelry, nick knacks, bric-a-brac, proves love? If you spent all year working a second job, to buy a special gift, that you labored for, and spent time planning, and thinking about, then that is a measure of love. But to wait till the eleventh hour, one stop shopping and bought what would keep you out of the dog house, doesn’t even resemble love in any way shape or form.

Picking flowers for no special reason, or thinking and planning to surprise someone, that is love.  My attic groans under the weight of projects my children have made me in school.  Misshapen apples, hearts, paintings, ashtrays for their mom, who never smoked in her life, but was all their little fingers could shape, that is a measure of love.  A hand written poem with heart-felt expression of how you feel, is love.  Love is sometimes colored outside the lines, or misshapen, and doesn’t always rhyme, but it is always true.

Be careful this Christmas season, not to try to buy someone love.  No matter how much money you have to spend, it will never be enough.

As parents we need to hug our children and love them 365 days a year, and tell them every day. Teach them love does not have a price tag, it is always free!

We as authors throw the word love around in our writings as if it were a football.  True love is a precious gem, rare and has untold value. And is found in the most unlikely places; like on a cross.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:15

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8
