ONE MOMENT CAN CHANGE EVERTHING!

Life can change in the twinkling of an eye.

My day could be very different this morning.  My husband was home this weekend, and I told him when he left, to be very careful, because the roads were going to get bad, due to the weather. He is a retired farmer, who is now a Semi driver.  He went to Michigan yesterday, hauling 75,000 pounds of freight on icy roads.  He takes his job very seriously and was being cautious on an off ramp near Flint, Michigan.  The car behind him was growing very impatience with his caution, and kept trying to pass.  When the car finally found a spot, the passenger window came down and they shot at my husband for going so slow.  It missed the window they were aiming at and glanced off a curved part of the truck, only taking some paint with it.  Six inches to the left, if the bullet didn’t kill him would have caused him to have an accident on the icy roads.  I have to ask myself, why? Didn’t they realize he is caring products for them?  He certainly isn’t hauling junk for himself! What would happen, if?

My mother use to quote a saying; “If stands stiff in the corner, with his hands behind his back.”  I always thought it was an odd saying until I realized there is no what if, only what is.  This morning I could be a widow, but I am not.  That is what is. I can’t go back in time and change anything, make my husband go faster or slower, God was in charge of all those facts.  And the outcome of the incident was just the way it was meant to turn out.  All the worrying in the world would not have changed one part of it.

The one thing we have done is get insurance on our eternal life.  If the unthinkable had happened yesterday, things would change.  Christmas would have a different atmosphere, we would all be sad etc… But one thing we would not be is wondering where my husband would be spending eternity.  So yes, my life could have changed in a twinkling of an eye, but so could yours. Maybe not by a nut, who is impatient and not in control of his factuality’s.  But anything else, heart attack, choking the list is endless. What kind of insurance do you have on you and your family’s eternity?

This is the time of year we celebrate the birth of the Saviour of the world. What are you celebrating?

As parents we need to teach our children to celebrate Christmas for the right reasons. Don’t let the commercial aspect of the holiday ruin the true meaning of Christmas. Time will never stand still for anyone, make every moment count.

We as writers need to bring good sense back to the people, by telling them what a single moment in time can mean to so many people.  The ripple effect, is just that, it effects many.

And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Luke 12:25-31
