PLANNING PARTIES!

What upcoming events are you planning?

We are just coming off the Christmas high, and to make the fall a little easier New Year’s party planning is in full swing.  For some it will mean a get together with friends in our homes, and the parents will congregate in one place and the children in another.  There will be games, food and fun. It is a chance to enjoy another tradition of the Holiday festivities.  Others will go out on the town to social events like dances, bars and casinos. I guess this is where I throw the wet blanket, and tell everyone to be responsible with actions, and their words.  Many times when friends gather they reminisce about the good old days, and the antics that were pulled, before you knew better.  The danger in this is, it is a green light for your children, (who have sonar for hearing), to try everything you just described, boasting to your friends, on what you got away with.  You were lucky, your child may not be.

Play it safe and have designated drivers, or better yet, just enjoy the company and the music without getting inebriated. Believe it or not, your children and friends are watching how you behave and will remember long after the countdown ending the year,  making a lasting impression of who you are and what you are made of.

As parents it is important for us to be good examples for our children. Not to do as you say, but to do as they see you do. You can’t say one thing and then do another, because they will see you as the phony you are.

We as writers often have the two-faced people in our stories get their comeuppance. It should be the same way in our own lives, reaping what we sow.

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

Proverbs 20:11

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Matthew 12:37

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Galatians 6:7-9
