If it sounds too good to be true, it is!
In this day and age, everyone is looking for a better life, and way to live it. They have tried meditation, Yoga, Cleansings, Retreats, but one of the biggest industries in the world is ‘self-help Gurus.’ Some of them were obscure to the world, until someone famous, (Who has been on a Spiritual Quest most of her life.) hoisted them up on her own petard. Suddenly their books were flying off the shelf, and the money was rolling into their pockets. Yes, that is right, they are getting rich on your vulnerability, just like the Hollywood starlets, and laughing all the way to the bank. Most of them don’t have an original thought of their own. They take what they have learned as a child, (Like Ulrich Tolle, (who changed his name to Echart,) was raised in the Catholic Church in Germany), and removes any mention of God or Jesus Christ and makes it natural mysticism. The real sad part of this commentary is that he and those like him are (in the opinion of this writer) leading good people down a path that is a dead-end. His 4 books, which in fifty years may or may not be read any more, have found popularity because of Hollywood. People really don’t want to be hemmed in by rules and regulations they have to follow. They do not want anyone to tell them what they think or do is wrong. That is why this kind of New Earth religion is so attractive. All they have to do is think good thoughts, and sing Kumbaya, and they will be rewarded. Well, if a book that has been a best seller for centuries, is true, these people are in for a rude awakening when they face God! They have taken the basic Bible truths and perverted them into a religion of nothingness. It is a slippery slope that they are building, much like the tower of Babel. Be careful not to be caught in the fall out! There will be hell to pay! Only the redeemed will live to know the truth.
As parents it is important to keep our children grounded in the truth. Raise up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. These are tried and true Bible promises. We have our children for only a little while, help them be the best they can be, and to love the Lord, with all their hearts, all their souls, and their minds.
We as writers only wish we could be recognized in some famous person’s book club, and our books would fly off the shelf, even if they stank! But stay true to yourself and what you believe in your writings, and let them stand on their own merit!
