Everyone envisions themselves sitting on a throne.
Needless to say, this has been a Northwest Indiana winter. This is how I remember winters as a child. Making igloos was one of our favorite pastimes. I must admit we never got the dome quite right, and ended up using boards to hold up the last snow blocks we made for the roof. Epic snowball fights were a neighborhood ritual, living right by the town park gave us the optimal field and ammunitions for such an event. Of course the boys showed no mercy on the girls of the neighborhood. That is where I must have developed my arm for throwing a baseball.
Last night we pulled into the driveway and was met by the usual winter inhabitants of a yard after a snow, a snowman family. Some of them looked a little worse for wear, but there was also something very unusual occupying the snow-covered lawn, a beautiful throne. With the multiple hours of warm sunlight, and below freezing temperatures combined, have given birth to some amazing icicles. My granddaughter and her daddy picked up some of them to see what could be done with them. “Let’s make a fort,” her daddy suggested. (It is the way a man’s mind works) “No!” His daughter said, “Let’s make a throne!” (This is how a princess’s mind works) So of course she and her daddy made her a throne. And what a throne it turned out to be! To take a picture, a couple of light sabers in the background only added to its beauty. I think it is every father’s wish, is to give his little girls their every dream, most of which include castles, pretty dresses, tiaras and of course a throne.
Well, guess what? We have a father who is going to give his children exactly that, a palace and a throne! He has told us over and over in the Bible, that we are his children. Yes! We are children of the King and will inherit everything that goes along with that honor! The question is, have you decided to be his child? Accepting his sacrifice and the adoption into his heavenly family? Don’t you want a throne? For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved!
As parents we always want to give our children everything they want; as long as it is good for them. It is up to us to make sure they have all the information necessary to make an informed decision about their eternal life; thus a throne!
We as authors can bring to life in our writings the wish of every little girl. Don’t we all wish it were that easy in real life? The best we can do is show them the way to secure a life for eternity in heaven.
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”
Revelations 3:21
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Colossians 1:12
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
I Peter 1:3-4
