ARE YOU PROUD OF THE JOB YOU DO?

What kind of employee are you?

Many of the youth were told, “If you don’t go to college you will not amount to anything.”  So parents beggared themselves to send their children off to get their BS degree in partying, or get a MRS. degree.  Now don’t get excited, not everyone had this take on college, but I personally know several that did.  Then when they got out of college couldn’t find a job in the field in which they got their degree. The sad thing about college, is they try to break down what you believe, and replace it with what they think is true.  They make you feel foolish if you stand firm in your beliefs and faith. They demoralize you, but then they do not prepare you to go out into the world without those morals in place. College does not give you a degree in work ethics, or pride in doing a job to the best of your ability. They don’t inspire the students to never do a job half way, or to improve on something just because you can.

During the war years, the country took on a new attitude that if a job was worth doing it was worth doing right.  Many of our military still instill that work ethic in their enlisted men and women. But why don’t they teach it in high school and college. Many students are coming out of high school now with no desire to go to college, but straight into the work force instead.  They only problem is that some of these people think they have some providential right to the job and on their terms.  If something isn’t spelled out in their job description, they are unwilling to do anything extra, or go the extra mile to give 110%. They have a, that will do, attitude. They take no pride in the job they do, failing to see the bigger picture of how everything in life is part of a matrix. Each and every part making another part work better, faster, and on and on the matrix goes. They need to look beyond the humdrum job they do on a daily basis, to that piece of steel they helped to produce that day may end up in a bridge, or part of a mission to the moon.  Nothing anyone does is insignificant, from the ditch diggers, who keep the towns from flooding, to the computer programmers, who help the air traffic controllers see the planes, and keep them flying safe. So tackle each and every day with renewed vigor, knowing, you are doing your very best at what you do.  And that you are proud of your part of the matrix of life, while giving God the glory for ability to do that job.

As parents we need to instill in our children a work ethic.  Any job worth doing is worth doing right.  Give them responsibilities and make them do each job to the best of their ability.  Then praise them on their efforts, and acknowledge the fact that God gave them the ability to complete their mission.

We as authors know firsthand that less than our best will never do. If we are not proud of what we have turned out, we need to do it over, until we know we have done it right.  You only get out of life what you put into it!

 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3: 23-34

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Proverbs 16:3

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

Proverbs 12:24

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

II Timothy 2:15
