The missing solution. I am sure some of you remember your early days in school when you got to do fun things like putting puzzles together. Sometimes it would be pieces of cut up paper, and the teacher would ask us to put it back in order. This is about a class of first graders who were each given a puzzle of the world. Each student got his own puzzle to piece back together. In order for it to come out right, each country must be placed in the right order and location. Most children were laboring over this difficult puzzle, all except one little girl. Her puzzle was put together perfectly, every part of the world fitting together exactly right. The teacher walked over to the little girl and ask her how she got done so fast. “It was simple,” she said, “there was a man on the other side, and once I got the man straightened out, the whole world fell into place.” Art Linkletter would have said, “out of the mouths of babes.” But this, like so many phrases, are straight from the Bible. And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? Matthew 21:16.
No truer words are spoken than the simple truth told by a child, who hasn’t learned guile. And the truth is, there is nothing wrong with the world we live in, if we could get man straightened out. If we could stop hate, greed, waste, biases, deviant behavior, (the list is endless), the world would be Utopia.
So, how you ask, do we go about changing man? It is really not that hard. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalms 51:10. We just have to ask. That’s it, just ask God to come into your heart and do some housecleaning. Now, realistically we know that not everyone will care enough to do anything about the condition of the world. But for every man, woman and child who will ask, and obtain a clean heart, the world will be a little better place, because of each and every one of them.
As parents we need to teach our children to help the world around them by being the best person they can be. Have a clean heart and right spirit is the best way to obtain this goal.
We as authors have written time and time again about recycling, and how the world would be a better place without all the trash in it. Well, what better place to do the “taking out the trash” than in our own lives. Now there is a Pulitzer Prize winner!
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
I Peter 5:10
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Colossians 1:17
The earth is the Lord‘s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
Psalms 24:1
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. Jeremiah 17:14
