And he gave up the ghost
IT IS FINISHED!!
IT IS FINISHED! They heard Him yell,
The sky turned black, and the temple veil fell.
Not a single sound was heard just then,
Not a bee, a dog, or even a wren.
It was so still, that they say,
They thought the world would end that day.
And they had no time to repent,
For lives of waste and greed were spent.
To eternal flames they would surely go,
Because to Christ, no mercy they showed.
Many fell down on their knees,
They wailed and cried, “Lord don’t take me.”
“We know now you were heaven-sent,
Lord hear us now,” was their lament.
They took Him down, and carried Him away,
In a borrowed tome is where He was laid.
But the ground shook and the stone rolled away,
And He rose from the dead, on the third day.
Now what would you do, had you been there?
Would you jeer with the crowd, or just stand and stare?
Would you drive the nails in His hands?
Watching his blood soak the sand?
Would you repent saying, “what have we done?
We’ve mocked and crucified God’s only Son!”
What would you say, what would you do?
If the thief on the cross, beside Him were you?
Would you reject Him or take others advice,
Repenting of your life full of sin and vice?
Washing in His blood to gain a new life,
Then joining Him that day in paradise?
Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
John 19:18
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Luke 23:43
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
John 19:30
