How much time do you spend on your cell phone each day?
Sometimes saying less, is saying more. Your cell phone has already replaced your
camera, calendar, and alarm clock, don’t let it replace your family and your friends.
This is how I feel about it:
Have you heard of “Text” messaging, which is the latest craze?
Type a message on your mobile phone, and send it through the cyber maze.
You wait a few minutes until the party downloads all your text,
Then they respond in like manner, that usually happens next.
Of course, it depends upon the signal, if it is strong or weak.
Sometimes you hold the phone above your head and play signal hide and seek.
When you talk or text too much the signal starts to dim.
So, you plug the phone into the wall and charge it to the wall and charge it to the brim.
But, what if your friend is too busy to get right back to you?
Or they just can’t talk right now, ‘cause they have a job to do?
Do you drift alone out there in your cyberspace?
Maybe you get angry, and their number you erase.
Then the worst thing happens, the bill comes in the mail.
When you see how much it cost, you cry, you rant, and you wail.
I have a great solution, and it is “absolutely free!”
The signal is always strong and true, the powers from Galilee.
In fact, he gave his life to insure communications at its best.
And who could ask for a better price, toll charges I detest.
Here is the greatest part, one you’ll find hard to believe.
From signals, batteries and mobile phones you get a huge reprieve.
That’s right, it doesn’t take a gadget, to get in touch with HIM,
No toll, no fees, and no time restraints, you can call Him on a whim.
While you’re driving in your car, both hands on the wheel.
You can talk to Jesus and tell him how you feel.
You can sing, laugh, and cry without going onto overtime,
It’s really a wonderful bargain, without costing a single dime.
How do you get this great deal, where can you hook up?
Just use Romans 10:13, a relationship you can develop.
Now, you are global, everywhere this signal can reach,
And you have “direct connect,” this call no one can breach.
There are no time restrictions, call morning noon, or night,
Jesus answers all calls in person; he’ll make everything alright.
While I wrote this several years ago, it is still true today, maybe even more so. We have connected to people far from us while alienating those who are sitting right next to us. We spend more time on our phones, playing games and watching videos, than we do with the people we say we love the most. What is the longest conversation you have had on a cell phone? What is the longest conversation you have had with your creator? Maybe if you called Him on your cell phone you would talk to Him longer.
As parents we need to limit the time our children use electronics, and multi-media items. Have them look out the car windows, and notice the shape of the clouds, and makes and models of cars. Have them go play outside and get dirty, have fun, and come in smelling like sunshine! Teach them the art of conversation, not abbreviations and emojis. Teach them to enjoy reading books, especially the Word of God. He wants us to have constant communications with Him that is why He created us! Don’t let electronics be your babysitter!
We as authors have expanded our reading audience with the invention of E Books. While it is a way of uncluttering a hoard of books, there is nothing quite like holding a book while you read and turning the pages! And it doesn’t require batteries or recharging! It also give you a topic of conversation, hopefully face to face with someone! The Bible is a new and refreshing book every time I read it! Wonders never cease!
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
I John 5:14-15
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Isiah 65:24
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
I John 1:3
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
John 17:21
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
II Corinthians 6:16
