Our children have been lied too! The students were told they were participating in a walkout for support of the students who were killed in the school shooting in Florida. This shooting happened on February 14, 2018, why did it take so long for people to support the families of the fallen? Are we so naive to think it is just a coincidence that these days coincide? Were you aware these children have been encouraged to write letters to their representatives? Who has coached these kids as what to write in these letters? The reason I bring this up, is the school is overstepping it bounds. These are matters that should be left to discussions in the home with their parents. The school should never be used as a political arena for anyone’s personal opinion or that of any union. Teachers are there to teach the truth, not influence vulnerable children into a wave of political activism. Did the people protest gun use after the first school shooting in 1764, when a group of Lenape American Indians stormed a school in Pennsylvania and killed eleven students? NO, they armed the whole town to protect themselves against the marauders. I am not advocating for or against gun control in this blog because that is not the point I want to make. I want each and every parent to KNOW what is going on in their school, and the truth behind what they are indoctrinating the children with.
Teachers impact young children’s lives, and should never take advantage of that privilege, by pushing their own political agenda down the throats of their charges. That is not what they are paid for, and should not regard the classroom a place to push their political or religious beliefs. Are they acting like teachers or snakes in the grass, quietly waiting for whom they may infect with their venom?
How about the outrage we should share for the 11 kids per day who are killed using their cellphones while driving? Or the 1.6 million accidents using cell phone cause while driving? Since 1764 there has been a total of 485 people killed in school shootings. That amounts to 1/3 of a person per year, as opposed to 11 people per day from cell phone use while driving. Now, which do you think should be outlawed?
Know what is going on in your children’s lives and in their schools, be and active part of their daily lives. Let’s keep things in perspective, and understand who is telling our children what!

As parents we need to teach our children sympathy for anyone who is a victim of violence of any kind. Help them understand why bad things happen to good people. Read to them in the Bible how Satan roams the earth seeking whom he may devour, and explain how the devil uses people to do his bidding. If you are going to have guns in your home, a gun safety course would be prudent for the safety of your family. Teach your children to question what they are being taught at school if it differs from what you teach them at home.
We as authors have an obligation to present things in a true light. It is different if we are writing a work of fiction, but even then we have the opportunity to present things we portray in the story in as true a fashion as we can. We don’t have the right to rewrite history to suit our own agenda. Stay true to the facts and to yourself!
