Shadows of the evening, steal across the sky.
As you lay in your bed and look back on your day, do you have anything to regret or fear? Have you led your life today with the praise and honor due Jesus Christ? Or have you used this day as an excuse to abuse food, and alcohol, all in the name of the celebrating Easter?
Before Jesus ascended back to heaven He gave a great commission to those who believe; And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: How have you spread the good word today? How have you worshiped Christ? Some people who try to over compensate for their lack of anything to do with church, will tell you they celebrate Jesus in the great outdoors. Every time they are out there they see the beauty and splendor of God. But asked those same people if they stopped and thanked God for his majesty and beauty, and they will tell you that He knows it by you just being out there.
If you were taken to heaven tonight, like the Bible says will happen one night,
I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. When it is all said and done, will you be left, or taken? Does it cause you some discomfort to know it could be you at any moment?
Easter is the celebration of the death, burial and resurrection of our Saviour and king Jesus Christ. How did you celebrate today? Singing praises, spreading the gospel, or sitting around a table gossiping with friends and family? Did you even give thanks for the food?
In second grade we were taught this song:
“Now the Day Is Over”
by Sabine Baring-Gould, 1834-1924
- Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh;
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky. - Now the darkness gathers,
Stars begin to peep,
Birds and beasts and flowers
Soon will be asleep. - Jesus, give the weary
Calm and sweet repose;
With Thy tend’rest blessing
May mine eyelids close. - Grant to little children
Visions bright of Thee;
Guard the sailors tossing
On the deep-blue sea. - Comfort every sufferer
Watching late in pain;
Those who plan some evil
From their sin restrain. - Through the long night-watches
May Thine angels spread
Their white wings above me,
Watching round my bed. - When the morning wakens,
Then may I arise
Pure and fresh and sinless
In Thy holy eyes. - Glory to the Father,
Glory to the Son,
And to Thee, blest Spirit,
While all ages run.
May I arise pure, and fresh and sinless Thy Holy Eyes? That is as possible today as it was on the original resurrection Sunday, if you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
As parents we need to teach our children to know the true holiday known as Easter, and to spread the message that Jesus commissioned for us; love and hope of the coming of His kingdom and eternal life through the blood of Jesus Christ.
We as authors don’t always have the opportunity to use the gospel in our stories, but we can spread His Love and faithfulness, in any setting. Don’t be shy or bashful about spreading the love of Jesus Christ. You will never have to be afraid to put your head down on the pillow at night, in fear of where you are going to wake up in the morning.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Psalms 91:4-5
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
Psalms 3:24
Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
Job 33:7
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—
and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.
Proverbs 24:33-34
