SAY AHH….

When do you need to see the Dr.?

Today I had to go and see the Doctor for a cold I have had for three weeks. I don’t feel that bad, but I don’t seem to be able to shake this. Of course they took my temperature, blood pressure, and weight, before I got to see the Dr. He asked me a whole host of questions, and then prescribed me some eye drops and antibiotics.

It isn’t very often I get sick at all even with five grandkids living under my roof right now, but these little snot factories brought this home and gave it to me with Love. Now they are all well and I am still sniffing and blowing, and now I don’t dare give any of them hugs good night.

Then I start thinking, if I had remembered to disinfect all the door knobs when they were sick, or if I had washed my hands fifty times a day, or if I would have taken a preventative the first time I felt a little tickle, I would not be sick now.  None of that matters, what matters is that I did get sick.  Could have, should have, would have, doesn’t matter now, I had to go see a physician to get better.

The same thing is true of our spiritual lives. If we would have hung around decent kids, if we would have listened to music with respectable lyrics, if we hadn’t been tempted to try the drugs just one time, if we had saved ourselves for marriage, or kept the marriage bed sacred, if we stayed away from the alcohol, or if we hadn’t got hooked on pornography. But the fact remains, we are sick, and we need the Great Physician to heal our hearts and spirits. Say Ahh.., I know I am sick, Ahh..,I need a doctor to get rid of this infection of evil and make me whole again.

I got rid of this cold after the first three days, but it came back with a vengeance because I didn’t guard myself against the alien invasion again. So I must take the medicine to eradicate the foreign ailment now. It is the same way with our Christian lives, once the evil has been cast out, we must take measures to keep it away, buy staying in the Word, around like minded people, and in prayer to stay well.

As parents we need to teach our children how to guard against sicknesses of the soul. Put on the whole armor of God, stay in the Word of God, and teach them to have a personal relationship with God through prayer.

We as authors can have a sickness like no others, it is a sickness of the mind that comes out through their writings in the way of such evil it can only poison whomever reads it. It is my hope that we stay above morbid things just to sell books, remembering we will have to account for what we put out into the world.

But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

Matthew 9:12

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

Psalms 147:3

And hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Mark 2:17

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

III John 1:2
