SHARE YOUR BURDENS

Two are stronger than one.

Have you ever tried to move a dresser by yourself, it may be easy for a short distance, but to go up or down stairs, will require help. In my life on the farm it has been necessary to push or pull a car or tractor that doesn’t run, and this is best done with one steering and one doing the pushing or the pulling. There are many instances when a job can be done faster and more easily with two people rather than one.

This is true also of burdens of the heart and mind, and not just the body. When we are over burdened with troubles, it is a comfort to have someone to talk to about it.  They can share your burden, and even give you advice, thus easing your burden.

I could even go so far as to say when you are sick, you tell your doctor and together you can work on a remedy. Things are usually better with two, both joys and sorrows. God realized that in the Garden of Eden, so he made a help meet for him, to share things with.

God in His infinite wisdom knew because by one man sin entered the world that we all would have to deal with the evils of sin from then on. We would have to suffer many sorrows, troubles and worries. This is why He offered to help us with any thing we may come up against. He promised to take our burden if we will allow Him to do just that. What could be better than to have someone take care of the heavy lifting when it comes to the burdens in our life? He tells us in the Bible:  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. How many times in your life have you been so depressed or over wroth that you actually feel faint? There is no need when God has offered to take our burdens from us and carry them for us. Why would anyone say no to an offer like that? I know some of us are control freaks, and think we can do a better job on our own, but trust me, no one can out love or out lift God, and He wants us to trust Him to carry these things for us.  Can you release your burdens to the Lord?

As parents we want to be there to comfort our children whenever they have a burden. We want to take that sadness and confusion from them and see them smile and be happy again. How much greater then, would it be for us if we could and would trust the Lord with the burdens of our hearts? Stay in the Word with your children, that they may know the Lord will always be available to the Children of God for comfort and strength.

We as authors very seldom have our hero or heroines conquer the world on their own. They usually find a kindred spirit to make life’s road smoother and easier to navigate. Our lives outside the stories, are like that also, in that everything is better when there is someone to share it with.

And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Genesis 2:18

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ

.Galatians 6:2

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Proverbs 55:22

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

 Mathew 11:28-30
