Are you ready?
If you are alive and well, and a citizen of the planet earth, you know about the upcoming nuptials tomorrow between Price Henry and Megan Markle. She is a commoner from the United States, and he is an heir to the throne of England. This type marriage in the past had been forbidden by whomever is sitting on the throne of England. This is not an arranged marriage like the practice in the centuries of the past. It is a royal wedding of free choice, based on the mutual love between two people. They have chosen each other to love, honor, until death parts them.
Of course in today’s society divorce comes before death. One gets tired of the other, or get their feelings hurt, or some such trifle thing, and breaks her promise.
What people need to realize, and what should stand out from all of this, is that love is not an emotion, it is a choice. It is not a line you’ve drawn the sand daring the other person to cross it, or a flush of emotion that eventually disappears. Love is what one could call, a sublime habit. Something you choose of free will to do. Unlike the marriages of the past, it is your choice to choose whether to marry the groom or not. Once that choice is made all others are put behind you and are taken completely out of the running for bridegroom. The Bible tells us that the church is the body of Christ and will become the bride when Christ returns to call us home.
By the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, he has given us the title of; his church, or bride. He has also given us a robe of pure white, we are made perfect in His sight, by the forgiveness of our sins, through the shedding of His blood. Just as Harry and Megan will repeat vows recited to them and say I do; we to must decide whether or not to be a bride of Christ. With this position comes much responsibility, just as Megan has learned there are things you are expected to do and things that are no longer allowed. The Bible tells us that when we receive Christ old self is put away and we become a new creature.
As parents we can use this royal wedding as a teaching point with our children. And how the similarities are to the future when Jesus Christ will return and take his bride to live with him eternally. Some things will have to be given up, it is a small price to pay for eternal bliss. Even if none of the wedding is viewed on television, don’t miss the opportunity to help your child understand what it means to become the bride of Christ. Once we choose to become Christians, we are then royalty, as we are children of the King. That is what qualifies us to become the bride of Christ.
We as authors pounce on opportunities like this royal wedding, to be the first one in print with the story. Even if we don’t have all our facts straight, the rush to print is our goal. I think this would be a good time to use restraint and fact checking before we assume anything. Just because someone prints it doesn’t make it true. Are you ready for your royal wedding?
So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
For many are called, but few are chosen.
Matthew 22:10-14
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Matthew 25:6
Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;
