IN EVERY LIFE

A little rain must fall

We just came off the holiday weekend where fun, fellowship, and food, was shared with friends and family. We enjoyed the laughter, the stories, the games, and of course the fireworks. I can honestly say we didn’t even have any mosquitoes! The Fourth of July is just fun from beginning to and, starting with the parade and ending with exhausted children. It is during times like this when accidents sometimes happen. Maybe somebody got a hot spark that gave them a little burn, or someone may have gotten a little more serious injury due to exploding fireworks. The point I’m trying to make is through this wonderful fun day bad things may happen. And so it is with life, you can be going along having a great life and boom something comes out of left field that will throw you into a tailspin. Did you really think that your life would be perfect from beginning to end, and nothing unfortunate would ever happen? Just having friends makes you vulnerable to heartache and sadness, because if something bad happens to one of them you feel like it’s happened to you.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said: in every life a little rain must fall. You have to wonder if he knew just how poignant that statement would be when he said it. I suppose you could equate rain with tears. Thus assuming that in every life something will make you cry. At my son’s funeral I had this song sung:

Tears are a Language God Understands

By the Heritage Singers

Often you wonder why tears come into your eyes
And burdens seem to be much more than you can bear
But God is standing near, He sees your falling tears
And tears are a language God understands.

God sees the tears of a brokenhearted soul
He sees your tears and hears them when they fall
God weeps along with man and He takes him by the hand
Tears are a language God understands.

When grief has left you low it causes tears to flow
When things have not turned out the way that you had planned
But God won’t forget you His promises are true
And tears are a language God understands.

God sees the tears of a brokenhearted soul
He sees your tears and hears them when they fall
God weeps along with man and He takes him by the hand
Tears are a language that my God He understands.

God weeps along with man and He takes him by the hand
Tears are a language God understands.

Did you read the sentence that said: God weeps along with man and takes him by the hand.

Nothing ever happens in our lives that God doesn’t know about it, and it grieves him when we go through hard times, bad times, and times of sorrow. He is there to give us comfort, and help us through those times. He promises in the Bible that he will never leave us nor forsake us, so when the rain falls, (or our tears) he will be there to dry our eyes, and mend our broken hearts. He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

So whether it is a tiny burn from a sparkler, a betrayal of a friend, or the loss of a loved one, God understands our sorrow and will help bring the joy back into our life, if we let him. I guess the real question is, why would we want to carry the burden and sadness by yourself?

As parents we want to shield our children from any and all hurt and pain. Unfortunately this is absolutely impossible, because we cannot be there 24/7. This is why it is imperative for us to give our children the tools they need to go through life and the hardships they will incur during it. So we must teach them to be prepared: Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

We as authors love to have a good crying scene in our stories. Why you ask? Because everyone can identify with sorrow on some level. In our stories we always have a hero come and wipe away the tears and make everything all right again. In real life it’s best to depend on God to do that, I know I do.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Philippians 4:6-8

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalms 23:4

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

I Peter 4:12

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Romans 8:18
