TWO WAY COMMUNICATION

You must send in order to receive.

My youngest grandson just turned five, and for his birthday he got some really neat walkie-talkies. Of course the fact that they are Spiderman walkie-talkies didn’t hurt his feelings at all, because now he feels like a superhero. The thing about walkie-talkies is, unless there is someone using the other one, you’re talking to yourself. You can only talk to yourself so long before it gets really boring. So the alternative was, he ask one of his sisters to talk on the other walkie-talkie, so they would have two-way communication. Now he’s having fun because when he talks to someone, they talk back.

In reality if you walk around town talking to yourself, pretty soon they call the men with the white coats, and they come take you away for a nice long rest. With the invention of the cell phone, people walk around with Bluetooth’s, ear buds, or just talking into their cell phones while they hold it in their hand. If you were unfamiliar with cell phones, these people would all look like they were crazy, by talking to themselves. What you don’t see is that there is someone on the other end of the communication device, making it a two-way conversation.

What the walkie-talkies and the cell phones have in common, is that neither one of them work  unless they are turned on. You can talk into it all day long but your words will not go anywhere unless the device is in the send and receive mode. The same is true with your prayers, and communication with God. You have to turn on your faith by accepting the gift God offered for the redemption of sin, His only son Jesus Christ. His son’s death on the cross, and shedding of blood, is the only way for you to receive the Holy Spirit, which is the battery pack for your two-way conversation with God. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17.

The whole reason for God creating man, was to have someone to commune with. Webster’s definition of commune is: to talk over, to discuss; which means a two-way communication. The Bible said that God made man in His own likeness. He did not make the Angels in His likeness, only man, and with the purpose of communication. So when was the last time you had a good old-fashioned heart-to-heart with God? We can tell him we are sad, that we’re happy, that we have financial difficulties, and a whole myriad of other things including praise, and thankfulness for blessings. His son died so He could hear from you, so what is stopping you?

This was the first solo I ever sang, and it seems to hit the nail on the head.

IN THE GARDEN

  1. Austin Miles

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing, which means to entreat, implore, or to make a request in a humble manner. It is God’s greatest desire to hear from you often. John 3:16 states:  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. That is a very powerful love, to be willing to die for someone you never met, but hope to one day.

As parents the Bible entreats us to; train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. If we do a proper job of training our children we will make sure they know how to communicate with God from the beginning of their life. When they are babies we should rock them and pray aloud that God would protect them, and give them wisdom and grace. When they are older we should read them Bible stories, and say bedtime prayers with them, so speaking to God is as natural as speaking to their earthly father or mother. All it requires is for you to talk to God, and then listen to the still small voice that will come from reading the Word of God.

We as authors like to make our heroes the strong silent type. They use other forms of communication, like the looks, and body language. We are fortunate in our daily lives to be able to talk to God, with our minds, our hearts, and our voice, and He will always listen.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Jeremiah 33:3

He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

John 8:41

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

John 15:7

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Isiah 30:21

The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Psalms 34:17

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

John 6:63
