Wake up America!
When you tuck your children in bed at night you pray for their safety, danger may be lurking within the laws of this country. Some of you may have heard about the speech Mirjam Heine, from the University of Wurzburg, gave on pedophilia being a sexual orientation. She gave this speech at the TED organization: ‘TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful speach. (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics. While this organization thought they were doing a great thing introducing her point of view, there was such an uproar over this subject matter they removed the speech from their website. It was her contention that pedophilia was as natural an orientation as homosexuality, heterosexuality, etc. are. In the speech she was lamenting the fact that a person she knew could not act out on his sexual orientation because it would be against the law. The laws are in place to protect minor children from predators such as this. She urged us to understand and to realize they can’t help themselves, and that they have a right to these specific orientations. America, be very careful how you handle this, because if you give rights to these people you will be taking the rights away from minor children.
It is no secret that the rise of sex trafficking is a major concern in this country. Security cameras have captured blatant kidnapping of children right from their mothers care in supermarkets, train stations, even clinics. The latest one I have seen was a woman holding her child was approached by a woman with a bottle of fabric softener encouraging the young mother smell the new fragrance. Upon smelling the contents of the bottle she immediately passed out and the child was snatched out of her arms and the perpetrator got away. Humanity has sunk to a new low when they prey on children at such an alarming rate.
There are some watch groups, many of them Christian, who are monitoring the laws that are proposed in our government. They take great interest in the wording of these laws, as they would make the sentencing of pedophiles and other such sex offenders more difficult. While it is a good thing these groups are watching our backs, we should not be ignorant to any laws or legislature that will affect the safety of our children. Jesus was so adamant about offending or hurting children that he reiterated how severe punishment for the offender should be, several times.
This is truly an ugly subject matter, but it affects the most beautiful, and vulnerable part of our society, our children. Sometimes we need to wake up out of our stupor and be cognizant of what is happening around us in this country. This has nothing to do with politics or party lines, this is strictly the safety of our precious children.
As parents it is our desire to protect the innocence of our children. To do that it is important that we educate them that their bodies are private and it is not okay for other people to touch or abuse them in any way. It is very delicate subject matter, but there are many publications available to help you explain it so it can be understood if you find the need for help. The Bible calls children an heritage of the Lord, so stay in God’s Word for guidance in the raising of these blessings.
We as authors, can pick up the torch in the fight to protect our children in the many genres of our work. Many of our stories have come from a place where the fight to break free of abuse is palatable. 99% of pedophiles are men, and through our writings we can warn the parents what to guard against. Let us not be a nation of, two little too late, when it comes to protecting the most vulnerable of the population.
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalms 127:3
Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 18:10
And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Mark 9:42, Luke 17:2, Matthew 18:6
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matthew 25:40
Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
Mark 9:37
