What are they learning, who is doing the teaching?
This is the time of year, where in most states, children are going back to school. I have to ask how many parents have spent any time in learning what the curriculum will be that their child is about to be taught? Do you approve, disapprove, or are you just happy that the full-time babysitter is now back in service? Do you care if the school is teaching your children things that you are morally opposed to? Can you opt out of classes that you find offensive, or just too politically correct for your taste? Who are you letting mold and inform your child on how they should act, think, and be tolerant of? Does your opinion as a parent or your faith have any role to play in your child’s life? These are questions you really need to sit down and ask yourself, and find out what your options are. Delve into your schools core curriculum and find out if it is something you can live with, or live without.
When you turn on the television and you see college students being interviewed who don’t know anything about the founding of this country, you must ask yourself who dropped the ball? How can they not know who the founding fathers were, what the Revolutionary or Civil wars were about, or respect the flag and the National Anthem and what they represent. Where does our responsibility, as parents, begin and end in regards to education of our children? Do you want athletes who are privileged, multimillionaires, spewing disrespect and bias of the American flag, and National Anthem because of some misguided opinion of their own? The old saying of tell a lie often enough and it becomes the truth comes to mind in this instance.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are from my school days, and the friends I made during that time of my life. Nobody questioned, or refused the standing and saying the Pledge of Allegiance every morning. It gave us the feeling of unity, and brotherhood, equality if you will. The kneeling and protesting of this same Anthem, I find only to cause dissension, disjointedness and alienation among the people who are witnessing it. While these athletes are entitled to their opinions, both personal and political, the job site is not the place to express them. I would hope the athletic associations of the various sports would have the insight and fortitude to hold these athletes responsible for their actions in the workplace, thereby not letting them flagrantly use the media’ s spotlight for their own agenda. Wake up America, you are letting these athletes influence your children and their opinions, not even knowing what they really are.
As parents we need to be actively involved in our children’s school curriculum, afterschool sports, and social media exposure. Don’t act all surprised when something happens because you were too busy to know what they were being exposed to. Be the parent, raise your children with manners, moral fiber, and national respect, but most of all in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
We as authors, have the ability to give these athletes looking for sensationalism the spotlight they desire, instead of letting them affect our children in a negative manner, shining the light on the hypocrisy that many of them live. Tim Tebow is a good example to athletes who want to take a knee, his was to honor God, and he put his money where his mouth is and formed, “Tebow Cares Orphanage and Medical Center.” Tim Tebow didn’t need the spotlight or the media to do what was right. That is the kind of influence you want on your children. We need to give him the credit that is due him. Who’s teaching your children and what are they learning?
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
II Timothy 2:15
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
Proverbs 12:15
With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
Job 12:12-13
And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
Isaiah 54:13
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
II Timothy 3:14-16
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
