Today my heart was broken when I found out, two people I love, cancer had returned.
Since the garden of Eden, when everything started out good and perfect, a cancer slithered in to ruin it all. It began with doubt and contradiction, and escalated to sickness and death. God created what he had hoped would be people he could commune with on a daily basis. But Satan, being the jealous angel he was, didn’t want that to happen. Thus the temptation of EVE, and as Paul Harvey would say: “Now you know the rest of the story.” But do you really? Did you know before the temptation there was no sickness or death? The lion and the lamb grazed side by side. The death of the spirit was the first death and which lead to the demise of the world today.
A simple way to understand this today is everything good comes from God and all bad things come from the destroyer (Satan). You may think that is an over simplication of the matter, but I assure you it is the fact. When God created the earth and everything in it he called it good. Because things that are pure and perfect are good. Why then is there so much death and violence in the world today? Romans 5: 12 states it the best; Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Again in Romans 6:23; For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Jesus takes what Satan ruined and turns it beautiful and good again, by giving us eternal perfect life.
Cancer is an cruel reminder that things are not always good in this world. From the polluting of the natural resources to man’s mind, ugliness and sin have left an indelible mark on all of us.
As parents we need to teach our children to resist what ever sin is tempting them, and believe me that is no easy task. The best way is to give them armor they need to withstand what ever may come their way. Ephesians 6: 10-11: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
We as writers sometimes have the natural urge to make things that are bad for us seem enticing and exciting. The cost of those few minutes of excitement may be paid for with a life time of regret.
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
Genesis 6:11-13
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
