WRONG WAY

Last night my mother of ninety eight years, had a stroke.

 

She had a bad cold, and we had tried to get her into a doctor.  My mother can be strong willed at times, and she didn’t go to doctors.  She took vitamins, but not prescriptions, except eye drops.  Unfortunately, the last time she had seen a doctor was about fifteen years ago.  One doctor we called said he could see her in September.  She fought the idea of seeing a doctor and said she would be fine.

My mother planned on living until she turned one hundred and ten years old. It seemed possible to us because she still did her own laundry, (including the ironing) drove, sang in the choir.  Don’t misunderstand me, she may still make it to one hundred and ten, but it is and always has been in God’s hands.

Mother has always been faithful to God and the commitments she has made to him.  She is not a Sunday morning Christian, but a 24/7 Christian.  She has been a great example for her seven children, twenty four grandchildren and her fifty great grandchildren.  Whatever the outcome of the prognosis today, she will be okay with it, because she puts her trust in God.

We as parents need to teach our children to put their trust in God. To understand when they ask God for something, sometimes the answer is no.  Not because he doesn’t love us, but because he can see our future.  He will always do what is best for us, even if we don’t understand it at the moment.  He loves us and knows what he is doing!

We as writers sometimes struggle with the way a story is going.  But somehow it will usually  work its way to the proper ending.
