A TREASURE CHEST!

Have you ever been on a treasure hunt?When we were kids, we would have scavenger hunts. We had clues to find an intricate part of the treasure map. Once your map was completed you could race to find the treasure, hoping no one got there before you. What a thrill it was to be the very first to reach the prize! What did you win? Was it anything of great value? Do you still have it? How hard did you work for it?

What are we as parents teaching our children about treasure? What do we value in our lives? Do you freak out if they get marks on the floors, walls or carpets. We can use these times to teach them how to care for things that are entrusted to us. Let them help you clean up the mess, or take care of their toys.

Don’t miss the opportunity to use these times to illustrate how Jesus washed away all our sins. Put our broken lives back together, better than ever because we are precious to him. So much that he died for us. Tell them that he gave us a treasure map to the most precious thing in the whole world, our eternal life It is an opportunity to teach them to take care of what they have, but understand these things are going to rust and corrupt. There is nothing in this world you can take with you into the after life except salvation.

We as writers, leave behind a treasure trove of stories and ideas. Make them count!

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matthew 6:19-21
