Today we left on our journey home.
We packed our rental car in plenty of time to get to the airport and check in on time. Unfortunately, there were some things we didn’t allow for, like the higher elevation making our mothers breathing very labored when she walked any distance. The car rental drop off was clear at the other end of the concourse. Because of this we called for a wheelchair. We didn’t plan on waiting for a wheelchair that never came. My sister went and found one and we sprinted pushing a wheelchair, pulling three suitcases, two carry-ons and three purses, to our check in counter at the outer most part of the terminal. Actually this part of the terminal was in a small wing of the airport. Another unexpected thing was how much time had expired. Upon arrival we were informed that we were too late for check in. If we missed this flight we would also miss the next two connecting flights .
This was a mess! What were we going to do ? They hadn’t started boarding, so they decided to try to get us on the flight. We checked our bags at the gate and made the flight. Even the changing of our seats could not dampen our euphoria over making this flight!

We as parents must try to teach our children the value of time and commitment. During school, you should not have to call them more than once, to wake up and get out of bed. School is a commitment, so teach them early how to be responsible with their time. Are they ready for church on time? Do we allow excuses or do we teach them to layout their clothes the night before church and school, or go hunting for shoes and backpacks at the last minute, making everyone late?
The most important thing we can teach them is, today is the day of salvation! Time doesn’t wait for anyone!
We as writers may waste time talking on the phone, or watching too much TV. Let’s take our commitment to our writing time seriously !
